What is it?

Mailchimp Campaigns connects BOS to your Mailchimp account, so you can sync your customers into a Mailchimp audience and send them email campaigns — using templates you've built in Mailchimp — without leaving BOS.

You'll find it under Email Campaigns → Mailchimp Campaigns.

How to

Connect Mailchimp

  1. Go to Email Campaigns → Mailchimp Campaigns.
  2. Click Connect Mailchimp, then Integrate with mailchimp.
  3. Log in to Mailchimp and authorize BOS to access your account.
  4. Back in BOS, click Select default list and choose which Mailchimp audience your customers should sync into.

Note: This requires the Standard plan or higher.

Open your Mailchimp area

Once connected, click Go to Mailchimp dashboard. This opens two tabs inside BOS — Customers list and Campaigns — it doesn't take you to Mailchimp's own website.

Add customers to Mailchimp

  1. Go to Customers list.
  2. Click Add to Mailchimp next to a customer.
  3. Tick This person gave me permission to email them, and confirm.

To add several customers at once, tick their checkboxes and use Add to Mailchimp in the bulk actions bar.

Important: Adding someone this way skips Mailchimp's own confirmation email, so only do it for people you already have permission to email.

Note: A customer needs an email address, address, area, and zip code on file before they can be added.

Create a campaign

  1. Go to Campaigns, and start a new campaign.
  2. Fill in the Campaign name, From name, Subject line, and Preview text.
  3. Choose a Template — these are the templates you've already designed in your Mailchimp account.
  4. Choose your Recipients.
  5. Choose Send now, Schedule for later, or leave it as a Draft.

Important: You design and write the email itself in Mailchimp, not in BOS. Build or edit a template in Mailchimp, and it will appear here for you to pick.

Choose recipients

  1. In the campaign, open Recipients.
  2. Use the filters to narrow the list, and tick who to include.
  3. Not synced yet? Click Add to Mailchimp for that customer right from this screen.

Note: Only customers already subscribed in Mailchimp can be selected. At least one recipient is required before you can send.

Edit or delete a campaign

  • Click a Draft or Scheduled campaign to open and change it.
  • Select one or more campaigns and click Delete to remove them.

Important: A campaign that has already been sent can't be edited or deleted.

Check a campaign for errors

If a campaign shows a warning icon, click it to see what went wrong.

Disconnect Mailchimp

  1. Go to Email Campaigns → Mailchimp Campaigns.
  2. Click Remove integration, and confirm.

Good to know

  • Mailchimp Campaigns requires the Standard plan or higher, and may need to be switched on for your company under Module settings.
  • The email itself — its design and content — is built in Mailchimp, not BOS. BOS only lets you pick a template and choose who receives it.
  • Manually adding a customer skips Mailchimp's own opt-in confirmation email, so only do it when you're sure you have their permission.
  • Once a campaign has been sent, it's locked — you can't edit or delete it.
  • The campaign list refreshes automatically every few seconds while a campaign is sending.
  • If Mailchimp Campaigns is missing from your menu, check your subscription plan or ask whether it's been switched off in Module settings.
